Deep in the Himalayas, near Gosainkunda, Lord Shiva is said to have driven his trident into the earth, creating three springs from which the Trishuli River flows. The name Trishuli comes from Shiva’s trident, the trishula. Within close proximity to Kathmandu, this river is highly accessible and is a popular destination for rafting adventures of varying lengths between 1 and 3 days. On the Trishuli, you will encounter interesting geological formations, high-walled gorges, secluded beaches, and rapids ranging between Class II and IV. Rafting the Trishuli can be accomplished by people of all experience levels. Trips can be arranged year round – an especially popular time to raft the Trishuli is during the monsoon between June and August, when the river is swollen and the rapids are raging.
