Gosainkunda And Helambu Trek

  • 17 Days
  • Guest: 2+

Overview

A chance to explore the Langtang and Helambu valleys and the sacred lakes at Gosainkunda, this is a trek which includes encounters with a wide range of sights within a reasonable timeframe. We’ll begin by traversing the Langtang valley to Kyangjin Gompa, a trip that will take us through colorful Tamang and Sherpa villages among a picturesque backdrop painted by the Langtang range. At Kyanjin Gompa we’ll have a chance to explore the monastery and the glacial formations around the valley. Retracing our steps through the Langtang valley, we’ll break off toward Gosainkunda, where we’ll stop to admire the stunning aqua hue of its holy lakes, and continue to cross the Laurebina Pass at 4600m. From this tremendously scenic altitude, we’ll descend into Helambu valley, a landscape of lush alpine meadows, with spectacular views of the Everest, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang ranges.

Trip Note:

This trekking route has been chosen with attention to preventing AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) through adequate time for acclimatization via a gradual ascent. This trek is considered moderate difficulty, involving 4 – 6 hours of walking daily across varying grades. Autumn (mid Sep – mid Dec) and Spring (Mar – May) are the best seasons to trek in the Langtang Valley, with clear, sunny days and the best visibility. The Winter months (late Dec – Feb) can also be enjoyable, though the cold can be discouraging to some. The summer monsoon (Jun – Aug) will bring plenty of rain, though flora will be exceptionally lush.
